Lord Stanley's Cup continued its annual tour of the world's mouths this weekend by crashing a Canadian wedding with Chicago Blackhawks center Andrew Shaw.
Faithful guardian of the Cup Philip Pritchard was on hand as usual to document things.
Shaw brought the Cup to the waterside wedding of Kate Cleaver, a family friend.
Shaw and Cleaver took pictures together, assuring that at least one wedding this year would have images other people will actually want to see.
Afterward, Cleaver wrote to Breen via email and explained how this fortunate encounter went down:
I've dreamed of my wedding day since I was a little girl! It turned out to be all I ever dreamed of and MORE thanks to Andrew! Having the Cup there took my mind off of how nervous I was to walk down the aisle. I was so excited to be taking a picture in my wedding gown with the Stanley Cup.
Cleaver added, "How many people can say they got a picture with the Stanley Cup in their wedding gown with their favorite player?"
The journeys of Andy and Stanley also included a cleansing stop at Shaw's local church. It's not said whether Communion was taken from the Cup, but one can dream:
I'm fairly certain water turns to wine upon contact with the Stanley Cup—or Jagermeister.
Dan is on Twitter. He would love to have his wedding big-timed by a trophy.
