Aaron Rodgers Rumors: Giants 'Significantly Down A Road' in Talks Amid Jets Exit

The New York Giants and Aaron Rodgers appear to be getting closer to a potential deal.

"From my understanding right now... they are pretty significantly down a road where they are negotiating to the point where, if Rodgers ends up a Giant before the start of the league year, it would not be a shock to people in this area and at the Meadowlands," Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com said on The Pat McAfee Show Thursday.

"My understanding is, yes, they have talked about what it would take to get Aaron [to the Giants]," he added. "... Yeah, I think from a football fit, this is something that they're seriously considering."

Rodgers could potentially have a few options in free agency, of course. The Las Vegas Raiders would make sense as a suitor, while the Tennessee Titans could also see him as a bridge quarterback depending on what they do with the top overall pick. Any team signing Rodgers will be doing so as a short-term plan, given his age (41) and declining play.

For the Giants, who likely will miss out on Cam Ward in this year's draft and could miss out on Sheduer Sanders as well, adding Rodgers for a year and addressing quarterback at the 2026 NFL draft would make sense.
