Video: Ashton Jeanty Ranks Barry Sanders, Adrian Peterson Among His All-Time NFL RBs

Zach BacharMar 6, 2025

As Ashton Jeanty prepares for the 2025 NFL draft, the Boise State running back ranked his five greatest all-time players at his position.

Jeanty listed Hall of Famer Barry Sanders at No. 1 and seven-time Pro Bowl rusher Adrian Peterson at No. 2.

"I'm gonna go Barry Sanders at one, put Adrian Peterson at two," Jones told CBS Sports' Leger Douzable. "Three, you got to throw Emmitt Smith in there, he's the leading rusher. Four, I'm gonna put LaDainian Tomlinson. Five, I'm gonna throw Frank Gore in there just for longevity, just how long he played."

Sanders, who earned 10 Pro Bowl nods to go along with MVP honors during his days with the Detroit Lions, surpassing 1,100 rushing yards in every year of his career.

He also led the NFL in rushing during four separate seasons.

As for Peterson, he paced the league in rushing throughout three seasons in his career. This included his 2012 campaign in which he amassed 2,097 yards on the ground, the second-highest single-season total in NFL history.

Jeanty has some experience with high single-season rushing totals, leading the country with 2,601 yards as a runner in 2024. He also found the end zone 30 total times.

On the latest big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department, Jeanty was ranked as the No. 1 running back and No. 8 overall player in the 2025 draft class.

B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson highlighted his patience and vision as a ball-carrier.

"Jeanty is a patient runner who tempers his pace to allow his OL time to engage and secure their blocking assignments," Parson wrote in his scouting report. "With plus-level vision, he quickly finds daylight through designated gaps."

Jeanty shouldn't have to wait too long to hear his name called when the draft begins on April 24.
