Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
"Honestly, when my agent asked me where I wanted to go, this was one of the teams at the top of my list. I started watching Jayden because of Aiyuk, that’s like his best friend. We used to chill, watch LSU games, and I knew he was going to be a stud. I’ve got some connections already with the coaching staff. Definitely ready to work with Terry for sure, because we came in the league at the same time. I’ve heard how hard he grinds. I’m just ready to match the energy and get to it. Shit…. I got a feeling this season is about to be one of them ones."
The 49ers traded Samuel and his $17.55 million contract to the Commanders last Sunday.
Daniels immediately celebrated the arrival of his new target:
Samuel, who received fewer targets than Jauan Jennings or George Kittle last season, publicly complained about his lack of touches during the season.
He then told ESPN's Nick Wagoner on Feb. 9 that the 49ers had granted him permission to seek a trade.
"I'm more than thankful for the Niners giving me the opportunity of a lifetime but now I think it's best that we find another team," Samuel said at the time.
Samuel will now join fellow 2019 draft pick Terry McLaurin in serving as top options for Daniels in the quarterback's second NFL season.
After getting all the way to the NFC Championship Game despite a lack of wide receiver depth last season, the Commanders will hope Samuel can bounce back from a down 2024 season to help Kliff Kingsbury's offense take another step toward title contention next fall.
