NFL Draft 2025 Rumors: Cowboys Won't Take Ashton Jeanty or Omarion Hampton at No. 12
Dallas Cowboys fans may want to start bracing themselves for the team bypassing the running back position and prospects like Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton in the first round of this year's NFL draft.
"There's a really good chance, if what I'm hearing is true, that it's not going to be Jeanty," Todd McShay said on his podcast Thursday (1:04:30 mark). "It's not going to be Hampton here at No. 12."

Heisman finalist makes history after going undrafted
While running back remains a huge need in Dallas, the team has enough other positions to fill that selecting a running back in the first round would be a questionable allocation of resources.
And the Cowboys may not even have the opportunity to draft a player like Jeanty. Mike Sando of The Athletic polled five NFL executives about the top 10 of this year's draft and concluded that the Las Vegas Raiders are major candidates to select the Boise State running back at No. 6.
"[New head coach Pete Carroll] is dead set on running the ball," one of those executives said. "He had Marshawn (Lynch) in Seattle. He is going to want the back here."
