DK Metcalf Trade Rumors: 'We Will Do What's Best for the Seahawks,' Says Team Insider
The Seattle Seahawks won't trade DK Metcalf just for the sake of placating the veteran wide receiver.
One team source told ESPN's Brady Henderson "we will do what's best for the Seahawks" when discussing Metcalf's desire to be dealt.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday the Seahawks "have agreed to explore options" after Metcalf requested a trade.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
It's unclear how much this actually changes things because there were already rumblings the Seahawks were at least exploring trade options for the 27-year-old.
As far as what the Seahawks consider to be "best" for them in a trade, they have put a high price tag on Metcalf. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Thursday that Seattle wants a first- and third-round pick in exchange for Metcalf.
Russini also noted Metcalf wants a new contract that pays him around $30 million per season. He has an $18 million base salary in 2025, the final season of his three-year, $72 million contract.
There aren't a lot of teams that seem likely to give up that much, both in terms of draft capital and money, to acquire Metcalf. The closest comparisons for that type of deal happened in 2022 when both Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill were traded.
Adams went from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Green Bay Packers for a first- and second-round pick in the 2022 draft. He also signed a five-year contract worth $140 million after the deal.
The Miami Dolphins acquired Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs for five draft picks, including first-, second- and fourth-round selections in 2022. He got a four-year, $120 million extension from the Dolphins in the deal.
Metcalf is a very good receiver, but no one would argue he's on the level Adams or Hill were when they got traded. Unless the Seahawks come down in their asking price, or there's a team desperate enough to add a pass-catcher, it seems unlikely right now anything will come of his request.
A second-round draft pick in 2019, Metcalf has racked up 6,324 receiving yards and 48 touchdowns in 97 career games.
