Raiders Rumors: Russell Wilson Contract 'Unlikely,' Aaron Rodgers Under Consideration
Quarterback Russell Wilson signing with the Las Vegas Raiders and reuniting with head coach Pete Caroll is reportedly "unlikely," according to Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press.
He added that the Raiders "would be an option for Aaron Rodgers if he could fit into offensive coordinator Chip Kelly's system. A team official told me last week the staff hasn't made that determination yet."
Wilson, 36, spent 10 seasons partnered with Carroll on the Seattle Seahawks, and the pairing was fruitful—the Seahawks won a title, went to a pair of Super Bowls and Wilson was a nine-time Pro Bowler.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Since that time, however, Wilson's stock has tumbled. He did look a bit better in Pittsburgh this past season after two brutal years in Denver, throwing for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 games, completing 63.7 percent of his passes while taking 33 sacks.
As for the questions about Rodgers fit with Kelly, the latter did adjust his offensive scheme last season to fit Ohio State's personnel and Ryan Day's general philosophy, though Rodgers' propensity to call his own offense at the line of scrimmage is well-documented. That could be an interesting mix.
There's also the question of how much Rodgers has left in the tank. The 41-year-old found a bit more of a rhythm as the season wore on in 2024, finishing with 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 63 percent of his passes and taking 40 sacks.
How the Raiders handle the quarterback position is the biggest question of their offseason. Either Wilson or Rodgers wouldn't be anything more than short-term solutions, though it's debatable whether they'd be great options even for 2025.
In a weak quarterback class at the NFL draft and the possibility of players like Sam Darnold, Justin Fields and Kirk Cousins remaining with their current teams, however, the Raiders may not have many better options.
