Report: Bradley Chubb, Dolphins Agree to Reduce Base Salary in Revised Contract
Miami Dolphins edge-rusher Bradley Chubb has reportedly agreed to a revised contract with the team that will lower his base salary, according to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Per those reports, Chubb can still make back his full salary if he hits a number of incentives during the 2025 season.
Chubb, 28, missed the entire 2024 season after tearing his ACL, meniscus and patellar tendon in his right knee back in Dec. 2023. He attempted to return to the team in December but ultimately both sides chose to shut him down for the remainder of the campaign.

"He had been very patient in the process, very open-minded and had growth as the process went," head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters at the time. "But ultimately, we all decided that we didn't think he would be able to be the player that he expects—that we all expect. Just needed a little bit more time that, unfortunately, the season couldn't offer us. So he's still all in it, and he was disappointed, but he also understands the big picture at stake and is going to make sure that when he's on the field for the Dolphins, that everyone feels the player that he knows he is."
Chubb was in the midst of a strong 2023 season when he suffered his knee injury, registering 11 sacks, 73 tackles (11 for loss), 22 quarterback hits, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two passes defensed.
Miami's struggled with health at edge-rusher in recent years, as Jaelan Phillips has suffered season-ending injuries in each of the past two years. Chop Robinson emerged as a game-changer later in the 2024 campaign, however, with six sacks in the team's final 10 games.
Having a healthy Chubb and Phillips, alongside Robinson, should give Miami a formidable pass rush in 2025. The Dolphins registered just 35 sacks this past season, putting them at 27th in the NFL. The hope will be that Chubb bounces back in a big way, motivated to pick up where he left off before his knee issues and earn those incentives.
