Report: 'Happy Gilmore 2' Release Date Revealed for Adam Sandler, Kelce's New Movie
The sequel to the 1996 golf comedy Happy Gilmore is reportedly set for a July release.
Netflix's Happy Gilmore 2 starring Adam Sandler will premiere July 25, according to Deadline's Matt Grobar.
The movie wrapped filming in December, but a release date had not previously been confirmed. Sandler said in December he was hoping for a release "around July," per Ryan Gajewski of the Hollywood Reporter.
Netflix released a first look at the film on Dec. 25 in the form of a 45-second trailer featuring a cameo from Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Kelce said in a January appearance on The Pat McAfee Show that it was "a dream come true" to work with Sandler in what he called "a few" scenes in the film.
"I thought SNL was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career," Kelce laughed in January.
Sandler meanwhile said in an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last August that his team had "something nice for Travis," per Lauren Sarner of the New York Post.
Alongside Sandler, Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald are returning from the original Happy Gilmore cast.
The film will also feature professional golfers including Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau, according to Netflix.
Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris will also make cameos in the film.
Netflix has not yet released plot details for Happy Gilmore 2.
