Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Metcalf's trade request was reported soon after it was revealed that the Seahawks are releasing fellow wideout Tyler Lockett following his 10-year tenure with the franchise. ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that Metcalf decided to request a trade "after a series of conversations over the past two weeks."
At 6'4" and 235 pounds, Metcalf is one of the most physically imposing receivers in the NFL. He can be the No. 1 option in the passing attack in most offenses or an above-average No. 2 wideout in others.
In 2024, Metcalf produced 66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns across 15 games. He suffered an MCL injury in November that forced him to miss two games, marking the first time in his six-year career that he's sat out multiple games in a season.
Since entering the league as a second-round pick in the 2019 draft, Metcalf has been one of the most consistent sources of production. He's never fallen short of 900 receiving yards in a season and he's recorded three 1,000-yard campaigns, including back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023. He earned two career Pro Bowl selections and was named second-team All-Pro in 2020 after recording a career-best 1,303 yards.
Losing both Lockett and Metcalf in the same offseason will leave the Seahawks thin at the receiver position. Seattle will rely on budding star Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who led the team with 100 catches, 1,130 yards and six touchdowns in his second year in the league last season.
Metcalf will certainly be hoping to land in a situation where he can contribute to a team's title chase and potentially earn his first career championship ring.
