NFL Fans Discuss Davante Adams, Aaron Rodgers Landing Spots after WR's Jets Release

Mike ChiariMar 4, 2025

Social media was buzzing Tuesday regarding the future of wide receiver Davante Adams and quarterback Aaron Rodgers after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the New York Jets are set to release Adams.

The Jets acquired Adams in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2024 season, reuniting him with Rodgers, who was his quarterback with the Green Bay Packers from 2014 to 2021.

While Adams reached the 1,000-yard receiving mark for a fifth consecutive season, the Jets finished just 5-12, leading to some sweeping changes, including the announcement last month that the organization will part ways with the 41-year-old Rodgers this offseason.

Given that Rodgers and Adams are both set to be free agents and are close on and off the field, several accounts on X posted about the possibility of them joining forces again in 2025:

The New York Giants could be one of the only teams willing and able to accommodate both Rodgers and Adams, as The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported last week that the G-Men were "shifting their interest" to Rodgers after failing to trade for Matthew Stafford.

There is no guarantee that Rodgers and Adams will end up on the same team, especially since the demand for Adams figures to be far greater than the demand for Rodgers.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that while Rodgers and Adams reuniting again is possible, "the pull of being on the West Coast is very real" for Adams.

Of the teams that play out West, it can be argued that the Raiders are the only one that would even consider Rodgers.

Taking Rodgers out of the equation, there were several additional predictions on X in relation to where Adams may sign:

A return to the Packers could make some sense for Adams, as he was a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time First Team All-Pro in Green Bay.

The Packers also have a clear need for a No. 1 wideout to help quarterback Jordan Love reach the next level.

Another potential landing spot is the San Francisco 49ers, who agreed to trade Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders on Saturday.

With Brandon Aiyuk coming off a torn ACL, Adams could be the go-to guy for quarterback Brock Purdy next season, particularly while Aiyuk gets back up to speed.

There is also a lot to like about the idea of Adams joining the Los Angeles Chargers since he and Ladd McConkey would give quarterback Justin Herbert the one-two punch he lacked last season following the departures of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
