NFL Draft Rumors: 'Word On the Street' is Abdul Carter Can Run 40-Yard Dash in 4.3s
Anyone who watched Abdul Carter play at Penn State knows just how good of an athlete he is, but the star EDGE reportedly has break-neck speed.
Per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the "word on the street is" Carter can run the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds. Unfortunately, fans didn't get the chance to see Carter's speed on display at the NFL Scouting Combine because of a shoulder injury from the end of the season that he's still nursing.
Penn State has its pro day later in March, which will be a good chance for Carter to prove the rumors about his 40-yard dash time true.
Whether Carter runs a 4.3-second 40-yard dash remains to be seen, but he's one of the top prospects in this year's draft class regardless. Carter had 43 tackles, 12 sacks, four passes defended and two forced fumbles in his final season with Penn State.
Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department projects Carter to be drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the second pick in the draft. If his skill and athleticism translate to the NFL, Carter could end up being one of the best defensive players in the league.
