DK Metcalf Rumors: 'Doesn't Sound Likely' Seahawks Will Put WR on the Trade Block
While one star wide receiver from the NFC West is on the move, another appears to be staying put.
The Athletic's Jeff Howe reported Monday that "it doesn't sound likely the Seattle Seahawks would make wideout DK Metcalf available in a trade."
Metcalf is entering the last year of his contract and signing him beyond 2025 will be an expensive endeavor for the Seahawks. Spotrac set his valuation at $25.5 million annually based on the current receiver market.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
That has naturally led a lot of people to wonder about whether Seattle will look to cash in on the two-time Pro Bowler now and recoup a draft pick or two. The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly getting a fifth-round selection from the Washington Commanders for Deebo Samuel.
But Howe's report comes after colleague Matt Schneidman said the Seahawks and Green Bay Packers had "no contact or negotiations as of now," a far different picture that had been presented in recent rumors.
The Seahawks won 10 games and narrowly missed out on the playoffs in 2024. Their 10-7 record matched the division champion Los Angeles Rams and put them only one game off the Green Bay Packers for the final wild-card spot.
Looking ahead to next season, Seattle should be good enough to at least factor in the wild-card race again. By declining to seriously entertain trade offers for Metcalf, general manager John Schneider is showing he wants the franchise to contend.
