NFL Combine 2025: Maxwell Hairston, Isaiah Bond, Next Gen Stats Top Performers

The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine came to an end on Sunday, and scouts will be combing through metrics for the next few weeks as they prepare for the NFL draft.

While 40-yard dash times and bench press reps usually get the most attention, there's even more to evaluate when figuring out the players who performed best at the combine.

Let's take a look at some of the deeper stats that could shape the way this year's draft plays out, provided by NFL Next Gen Stats.

Best Athleticism

Next Gen Stats determined that the best athletes at the NFL combine this year were a pair of Georgia offensive linemen in guard Tate Ratledge and center Jared Wilson:

Ratledge is ranked 48th in the B/R NFL Scouting Department's latest draft big board, so his performance at the combine could go a long way toward improving his draft stock. The same goes for Wilson, who is ranked at No. 105.

Wide receivers Issac TeSlaa of Arkansas and Isaiah Neyor of Nebraska also scored well on the athleticism scale, so they could be moving up most draft boards in the coming weeks.

40-Yard Dash Top Speed

Top Performers:

• Maxwell Harrison, CB, Kentucky: 24.25 mph
• Isaiah Bond, WR, Texas: 24.17 mph
• Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State: 23.89 mph
• Jacob Parrish, CB, Kansas State: 23.84 mph
• Jaylin Smith, CB, USC: 23.67 mph

If one thing is clear, there's a lot of speed at the cornerback position in this year's draft class. However, no player may benefit more from this metric than Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond.

After his bold claims that he would run a 4.1 or 4.2 in the 40-yard dash, Bond's official time of 4.39 was admittedly disappointing. He reached the second-highest top speed in the entire combine at 24.17 miles per hour.

It was the offensive linemen's turn to shine on Sunday, so a few projected first-round picks stood out in LSU tackle Will Campbell and Missouri tackle Armand Membou:

Other players like Georgia center Jared Wilson potentially improved his draft stock thanks to the advanced analytics:

Scouts will certainly be paying close attention to the speed metrics as the 2025 draft approaches.

Wide Receivers and Running Backs in the Spotlight

Skill position players typically draw a significant amount of attention at the NFL combine, and this year was no different.

Colorado wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. had his name near the top of most lists, ranking first in the gauntlet drill top speed (19.81 mph), second in the short shuttle top speed (15.74 mph) and second in the go route top speed (21.86 mph).

The leader in the latter statistic was Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson, who reached a top speed of 22.17 mph on his go route. Johnson needed a statistic to work in his favor after his disappointing 4.51 in the 40-yard dash despite weighing in at 154 pounds.

Tennessee wideout Dont'e Thornton Jr. was just outside of the top five in the 40-yard dash top speed at 23.66 mph, and he was followed by Texas receiver Matthew Golden at 23.57 mph for one of the many standout performances for the Longhorns:

Texas Tech running back Tahj Brooks also had a strong showing with the second-highest wheel route top speed of 20.55 mph and the highest short shuttle top speed of any player at his position at 14.26 mph.
