Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden boosted his draft stock following his performance at the 2025 NFL scouting combine.

Former NFL general manager and ESPN insider Mike Tannenbaum wrote in a social media post that there is "no doubt" Golden will be the first wide receiver selected in the 2025 NFL draft due to his combine results.

"Teams won’t pass on the speed/route-running ability," Tannenbaum wrote.

Golden clocked an official time on 4.29 seconds on his 40-yard dash attempt, the best finish among all wide receivers at the combine.

The 21-year-old thrived in his sole year at Texas in 2024, catching 58 passes for 987 yards. His nine touchdowns receptions were also tied for the most among all SEC players.

Golden particularly excelled during the Longhorns' College Football Playoff run, racking up 249 yards and a score in three playoff games.

On the most recent big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department, he was ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver and No. 18 overall player in the 2025 draft class.

B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson highlighted Golden's versatility.

"Golden makes plays from multiple wide receiver positions, X, slot, & Z," Parson wrote in his scouting report. "He separates from coverage well with his innate ability to decelerate and accelerate in and out of his breaks."

As Golden continues to navigate through the pre-draft process, he turned heads with his impressive combine results.
