Cooper Kupp's Top NFL Landing Spots After Deebo Samuel's Trade to Commanders
The eyes of the NFL world now turn to Cooper Kupp after Deebo Samuel's trade to the Washington Commanders over the weekend, as receiver-needy teams decide whether they want to pursue the veteran in a trade or take their chances in either free agency or the NFL draft to address the position.
Below, we'll preview a few teams that would make sense as suitors for the 2021 Offensive Player of the Year.
Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys could use another solid option at wide receiver behind superstar CeeDee Lamb, with Jalen Torbert and Jonathan Mingo currently the top options.
Kupp's ability to work out of the slot and consistently get open in underneath routes or over the middle would offer Dak Prescott a nice security blanket.
The Cowboys won't be thrilled about his $12.5 million base salary or $7.5 million roster bonus, however, meaning that they may be more likely suitors for the veteran wideout if he's cut (or if the Rams agree to eat some of his salary).
But either way, adding a No. 2 option in the passing game should be a priority for Dallas this offseason. Kupp's injury issues are a concern, but when healthy he's a targets machine.
Houston Texans

The Houston Texans were reportedly one of Samuel's preferred destinations before he landed in Washington, though the team didn't pull the trigger on a deal. Still, with Stefon Diggs heading to free agency and Tank Dell's recovery timeline potentially dragging into the 2025 season, adding a player like Kupp to pair with Nico Collins would make sense.
Like the Cowboys, however, the Texans would likely want the Rams to eat some of Kupp's salary in a deal.
Denver Broncos

It's no secret that head coach Sean Payton wants to add a player in the "joker" role this offseason, someone who can impact the game as both a runner and receiver. Kupp wouldn't fit that role, obviously.
But the Denver Broncos need more weapons on offense, full stop. Tight end is a major need, but so is upgrading at wideout. While Courtland Sutton remains solid—and Marvin Mims Jr. has shown flashes as a deep threat—adding a reliable player in the slot like Kupp would undoubtedly make life easier for young quarterback Bo Nix.
Pittsburgh Steelers
4 of 4
This one is pretty simple—outside of the mercurial but talented George Pickens and the steady but unspectacular Pat Freiermuth, the Pittsburgh Steelers seriously lack playmakers in the passing game.
There's an argument to be made that another field-stretching option might make more sense than Kupp, but why not both? Whoever plays quarterback in Pittsburgh next season won't be upset with an array of weapons at his disposal, something that neither Russell Wilson or Justin Fields had this past season.
