Tee Higgins, Stefon Diggs' Top NFL Landing Spots After Deebo Samuel to Commanders
The first domino has fallen in the wide receiver market this offseason.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been traded to the Washington Commanders in exchange for a fifth-round pick, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter.
This ends Samuel's six-year tenure with the 49ers and he will now become a major target for Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. It also likely settles Washington's receiver group and may take them off the table for other notable receivers.
Some notable names who could be available this offseason are Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins and Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Higgins, who could be franchise-tagged by the Bengals, is set to enter free agency. Diggs is also set to become a free agent and could be available for the highest bidder.
Here's a look at potential suitors for each player.
Higgins
Patriots
New England has pushed back on rumors about pursuing Higgins but that doesn't mean the option should be ignored. The Patriots enter free agency with the most cap space in the NFL and a large need to provide a true No. 1 receiver for quarterback Drake Maye. Higgins could fill that role while still being young enough to deal with a rebuild for a few more seasons.
Bengals
This would be the easiest and simplest solution. The Bengals could opt to place a franchise tag on Higgins while working on a new deal or at least have one more season with him. He has been very successful with the franchise and forms a scary duo with Ja'Marr Chase. The Bengals will also need to come to terms with Chase, which complicates Higgins' future, but keeping the two receivers with quarterback Joe Burrow is surely Cincinnati's goal.
Chargers
The Chargers could be a top-tier receiver away from being a real threat in the AFC. Los Angeles went 11-6 in 2024 and reached the postseason for the second time in the last three seasons. The team has failed to win a game in either trip but adding Higgins could change that.
Rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey was excellent, making 82 catches for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. Quentin Johnson was next with 52 catches for 711 yards and eight touchdowns. However, adding Higgins could aid both receivers and give quarterback Justin Herbert a major weapon.
Diggs
Steelers
Pittsburgh is in desperate need of some wide receiver depth. George Pickens led the team with 52 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns but no other receiver exceeded 600 yards. The team needs to solidify the quarterback position but signing Diggs would give whoever is under center another solid option to work with.

Chiefs
Kansas City had a chance to three-peat as Super Bowl Champions but were unable to stop the mighty Philadelphia Eagles. While the battle of the trenches may get the bulk of the blame for the loss, lackluster play from the receiving core outside of rookie Xavier Worthy didn't help either.
The Chiefs have a lot to figure out but adding Diggs on a one-year prove it deal could be appealing to the 31-year-old as he tries to rebuild his market following his injury.
Patriots
Given the state of the position group and their exorbitant cap space, the Patriots should be in on every major free agent. Diggs proved he could play in the cold with the Buffalo Bills and could serve as a key target for Maye just like he did for Allen for many seasons.
