Will Campbell Reacts to Debate Over His Arm Length At Combine; B/R's No. 1 OL Prospect

Jack MurrayMar 1, 2025

2025 NFL Draft prospect Will Campbell does not believe his arm length will hinder his ability at the next level.

Campbell is rated as the No. 1 overall offensive lineman in the draft by Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department after starring at left tackle for LSU. However, his 33 and 7/8th inch arm length could potentially necessitate a move to guard, which could hurt his draft stock.

Campbell addressed this ahead of the measurements at the 2025 NFL Combine and cited his track record shows that he can play tackle at the NFL level.

"I think I've shown everything that I need to, you know, show that I can play tackle at an elite level," Campbell said, per Jeff Legwold of ESPN. "You can go look at my tape, there's not one play on there that when I get beat you say that's because he has shorter arms. ... Obviously I don't have stereotypical offensive tackle arms. I'm aware of that. People have to nitpick something. I've heard it all my career. When I was coming out of high school, the college coaches all said the same thing. I proved them wrong. It's something I anticipate doing again."

Campbell played three seasons at LSU, appearing in 37 total games, and was an All-American in 2024. While he was an effective tackle at the collegiate level, translating to the NFL is another thing as other previous elite college tackles, like Peter Skoronski in 2023, were moved to guard in the NFL due to lackluster arm length.

While Campbell expressed his confidence in playing tackle, he also said that he will play wherever the team that drafts him wants to put him.

"If you told me I was going to start at right guard versus be a backup at left tackle, I'm going to tell you to put me at right guard," Campbell said, per Legwold."... I'll play anything I need to, to get on the field, but I feel like I can play tackle ... [but] I've been working on everything. I'm a versatile player. I can play wherever I need to play and do whatever I've got to do to get on the field."

He has a 6-foot-6, 323-pound frame and is rated as the No. 7 overall prospect by B/R's Scouting Department.

The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
