Deebo Samuel Trade Rumors: 49ers WR Interested in Broncos, Texans; No Offers Expected
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel reportedly may not land in one of his preferred destinations this spring.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported Saturday that while Samuel would be interested in heading to the Denver Broncos or Houston Texans, neither franchise is "expected to make an offer."
"Niners GM John Lynch said the team planned to honor wide receiver Deebo Samuel’s request to start fresh in a new spot. Washington — armed with cap space and looking to improve in Jayden Daniels’ second season — could provide a landing spot," Russini wrote. "Samuel is interested in playing for the Broncos and Texans, but neither team is expected to make an offer."
Samuel is a one-time Pro Bowler and has been a key piece of the 49ers' offense for the last six seasons. He had 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.
The Commanders had a resurgent year under rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and first-year head coach Dan Quinn. The team went 11-6 in the regular season and advanced to the NFC Championship before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles. Providing Daniels with a talented player like Samuel could help aid his further development and also take some pressure off of wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
The Broncos and Texans also made the postseason in 2024 and have promising young quarterbacks in Bo Nix and C.J. Stroud respectively. Samuel could help weaponize both of those offenses as well if either team decides to give him another look.
Regardless of where he ends up, it does appear that Samuel has played his last game in San Francisco.
