Cam Ward at 2025 NFL Combine: Measurements, Highlights and Reaction
Get ready to become very familiar with Cam Ward's hand size.
The Miami quarterback had his measurements taken Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine.
His height (6'1") and weight (219 pounds) weren't all that notable, but some fans quickly jumped on the fact his hands were nine inches from pinkie to thumb.

Height: 6014
Weight: 212
Hand: 9 3/8
Arm: 31 4/8
Wingspan: 76 6/8
We're not quite in Kenny Pickett territory, but a nine-inch hand size is on the smaller end of the scale for quarterbacks.
One concern for quarterbacks with small hands is that they could be more prone to fumbles. Ward lost eight fumbles in 2023 with Washington State but was far more careful this past year at Miami (three).
The Davey O'Brien Award winner won't start tumbling down draft boards, and this may not matter much whatsoever. But don't be surprised if his hand size becomes a topic of discussion, especially when combined with his fumble numbers:
Ward is the No. 8 overall player and top-ranked quarterback in Bleacher Report's 2025 big board. He was also singled out for having the best arm strength.
The 22-year-old has experience on his side, having played five combined seasons at Incarnate Word, Washington State and Miami. He was also the FBS leader in touchdown passes (39) while throwing for 4,313 yards and boasting a 172.2 passer rating in 2024.
While Ward isn't a can't-miss prospect like some other signal-callers in recent years, the praise toward him is well deserved.
But the weeks leading up to the draft are a time when every prospect's flaws are scrutinized to no end. Ward will be no different, and the combine provided one facet his skeptics will cite when they project him to be worse than the general consensus.
