Deebo Samuel Trade Rumors: Commanders, Texans Have 'Significant Interest' in 49ers WR
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel appears to have an active trade market.
Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported Friday that the Washington Commanders and Houston Texans have shown "significant interest" in trading for the 29-year-old and that talks have been "progressing in recent days."
Schultz reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos have also checked in on Samuel but that the Commanders and Texans have been the "most aggressive.
Samuel has spent the last six seasons with the 49ers and is a one-time Pro Bowler. He had 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns in 2024 across 15 games.
He is a few seasons removed from his Pro Bowl season but could still be a game-changer in new surroundings. He has one season remaining on his current contract.
Daniels threw for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns and just nine interceptions in 2024 and led Washington to a 12-5 record. He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and will look to improve on his promising start. Adding a threat like Samuel could help Daniels and take some focus away from wide receiver Terry McLaurin and diversify Kliff Klingsbury's scheme.
C.J. Stroud experienced some regression in 2024, throwing for 3,727 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Still, he led Houston to a 10-7 record, an AFC South Division title and a trip to the AFC Divisional Round despite playing with less than a full deck at receiver all season.
Adding Samuel could shore up the depth of the unit and help Stroud return to his 2023 form.
