Matthew Stafford Trade Rumors: Raiders Not Interested in Other Expensive Veteran QBs
The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly aren't interested in bringing an expensive veteran quarterback this offseason unless that quarterback is Matthew Stafford.
According to The Athletic, the Raiders are "unlikely" to "make a large financial commitment to another veteran quarterback" if they miss out on trading for Stafford. Stafford is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Rams, but the team has permitted him to gauge his value with other teams and potentially depart in a trade.
If not Stafford, the Raiders still prefer to add a proven veteran quarterback over a rookie quarterback from this year's draft, per The Athletic. With the No. 6 pick, Las Vegas will likely miss out on top quarterback prospects Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. After those two, there aren't many quarterbacks worth drafting so high in this year's class.

The Raiders have seemingly made progress on corraling Stafford, as Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz reported Wednesday that Stafford had a meeting with minority owner Tom Brady.
The other team in the running for Stafford has also reportedly taken a backseat to the Raiders. ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported Friday that the New York Giants are now the "underdogs" for Stafford.
Of course, Stafford could always stay with the Rams on a reworked contract, but that may require Los Angeles to pay him more than it is willing to at the moment.
