Report: Cam Ward Met with Saints at Combine amid NFL Draft Trade Rumors
The New Orleans Saints could consider trading up to select one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Saints met with former Miami quarterback Cam Ward during the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
Ward is considered one of the top signal calling prospects heading into the draft. The Saints may need to move up from the No. 9 pick if they decide to target him.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Tennessee Titans have an "open mind" about the No. 1 pick and would consider trading down, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Dallas Cowboys have discussed trading up from No. 12 to snag the pick, according to NBC Sports' Mike Florio (h/t BloggingTheBoys' RJ Ochoa.)
New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen said the team has considered "move-back scenarios" from the No. 3 pick, per Sports Illustrated's Carter Landis.
The New England Patriots will consider trading the No. 4 pick under the right circumstances, according to head coach Mike Vrabel (h/t Patriots.com's Evan Lazar.)
Those are the kind of circumstances the Saints would need to target Ward, given his status as a top-two signal caller in the draft and quarterback-needy teams like the Giants and Cleveland Browns waiting within the top three picks.
The Saints' meeting with Ward is likely one of many the team is taking during the combine. Underhill estimated the franchise will meet with "close to 300" prospects ahead of the draft.
General manager Mickey Loomis indicated at the combine Wednesday that the Saints expect Derek Carr to return as QB1 in 2025, per ESPN's Katherine Terrell.
Given that Rattler is the only quarterback on the roster for 2025, it seems likely the Saints will still look to add another signal caller this offseason. If New Orleans decides not to trade up from No. 9, the franchise could instead decide to target a prospect like Jaxson Dart later in the draft.
