Courtland Sutton, Broncos Reportedly Agree to 4-Year, $92M Contract After Trade Rumors

Paul KasabianJul 28, 2025

The Denver Broncos and wide receiver Courtland Sutton have agreed to terms on a four-year, $92 million contract extension, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The 29-year-old Sutton has played his entire seven-year career with the Broncos, who selected the ex-SMU star with a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

He's particularly fared well over the past two years.

In 2023, Sutton caught a career-high 10 touchdowns to go with 59 receptions for 772 yards.

In 2024, Sutton registered career-highs in both receptions (81) and receiving yards (1,081) alongside eight more touchdowns.

Sutton's performance last year was exceptional, as he formed a great rapport with rookie quarterback Bo Nix to guide the NFL's No. 10 scoring offense. He led the team in receptions, receiving yards, yards from scrimmage and touchdowns.

Sutton entered the 2025 offseason with just one year left on his four-season, $60 million extension signed in 2021. Needless to say, it paid off for Denver, as the team made the playoffs for the first time in nine years largely because of his efforts.

Sutton told Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post in an April 12 article that contract extension talks were "working in the right direction."

"I’m open and optimistic about the fact that I’ll be able to be here for the rest of my career," Sutton added.

That didn't materialize quickly. Sutton entered training camp without a new deal in July, although he still did report to the team.

Understandably, Denver wanted Sutton back given his performance, and now that's happened as its top offensive player is in the mix as the Broncos look to improve in year two of the Nix era.
