Shedeur Sanders Waiting to Throw Until Pro Day
2 of 3
NFL scouts will have to wait until pro day to see quarterback Shedeur Sanders throw.
The 23-year-old opted out of the combine but will travel to Indianapolis to meet with teams.
Sanders, who was projected as the No. 3 pick in the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department, threw for 7,364 yards and 64 touchdowns in two seasons at Colorado after spending his first two seasons at Jackson State.
Sanders is expected to be heavily pursued—especially by the New York Giants (No. 3 overall pick) and the New York Jets (No. 7 overall pick).
While the Giants released Daniel Jones in November per his request and were able to test out quarterbacks such as Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock, the Jets informed Aaron Rodgers only weeks ago that they are moving on without him in the 2025 season.
Meanwhile, despite selecting quarterback Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 draft, the Tennessee Titans are still eyeing a franchise game-changer with the No. 1 pick.
"We won't pass on a generational talent with the first pick in the NFL draft," Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker told reporters in January.
Whether that player is Sanders or another top quarterback prospect, such as Cam Ward, it would be a major surprise if Sanders falls outside the top seven picks.
Ashton Jeanty Waiting Until Pro Day, Abdul Carter will Be Ready on Pro Day
3 of 3
Like Shedeur Sanders, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter will not participate in the combine.
Jeanty will travel to Indianapolis but skip on-field workouts, sticking to just medical procedures and interviews.
The 21-year-old is coming off a dominant year, missing Barry Sanders' all-time single-season rushing record of 2,628 yards (1988) by just 28 yards while carrying Boise State to the College Football Playoff.
Jeanty's physicality and explosiveness make him an appealing candidate for teams looking to quickly improve their ground game.
Meanwhile, Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter, who was projected as the No. 2 pick in the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department, suffered a shoulder injury that will force him to miss the combine.
On Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that Carter has a stress reaction in his right foot.
However, doctors advised the 21-year-old not to have surgery, and he'll instead compete in Penn State's March 28 pro day.
