Schefter: Players Who Will Be Picked No. 10 and No. 35 'Similar' in 2025 NFL Draft
Good but not great might be the name of the game when it comes to the 2025 NFL draft.
ESPN's Adam Schefter appeared on Wednesday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show and discussed the notion there is plenty of quality talent in this year's class but perhaps not many elite options.
"The player you get at No. 10 in this draft is similar to the player that you get at 35," he said.
Schefter also said the strength of this year's class is the "middle rounds" where there is "a lot of good depth of talent."
That middle-round depth will allow clubs with multiple needs to address a variety of positions without having to trade up.
Schefter isn't the only one who has reported similar suggestions about this year's class. ESPN's Matt Miller spoke to a general manager who said, "there are four, maybe five, blue-chip players. After that, it's 40 guys with a late-first-round or second-round grade."
That is another way of saying exactly what Schefter reported Wednesday, which means it wouldn't be a surprise if a number of players in this year's class start in their rookie season even if there aren't many Pro Bowl-caliber difference-makers.
But more depth means more talent available for the realistic Super Bowl contenders who select later in the draft, so some of those rookies who start may be battling in the playoffs as soon as their first season in the league.
