Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Undergoes Surgery on Wrist Injury to Repair Ligament Damage

Mike ChiariFeb 25, 2025

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Tuesday that star wide receiver Tyreek Hill recently underwent surgery to repair ligament damage in his left wrist.

According to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, McDaniel noted that Hill's wrist was not broken, and he added that plans are in place for Hill to resume catching footballs this summer around the start of training camp.

After reaching the 1,700-yard mark in each of his first two seasons in Miami, Hill had a down year by his standards in 2024, finishing with 81 catches for 959 yards and six touchdowns.

It marked his lowest yardage total since 2019 with the Kansas City Chiefs when he missed four games, and the lowest total touchdown production of his career as well.

Hill also failed to make the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career, and he missed the playoffs for the first time ever, as the Dolphins finished a disappointing 8-9.

One of the biggest reasons for the Dolphins' shortcomings and Hill's dip in production was the fact that starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed six games due to injury, which forced backups Tyler Huntley, Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle into action.

Additionally, Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus said at the conclusion of the season that the speedy wideout broke his wrist during a preseason scrimmage.

Rosenhaus noted that while doctors told him he needed season-ending surgery, Hill decided to play through it.

What ensued was a highly frustrating season for Hill and the Dolphins as a whole, which culminated in a Week 18 loss to the New York Jets, thus ending their playoff hopes.

Following the Dolphins' season-ending loss, Hill suggested to reporters that he wanted to play elsewhere in 2025, saying: "I'm out, bruh. It was great playing here but at the end of the day, I have to do what's best for my career."

However, Rosenhaus later clarified that Hill met with the team and worked things out, saying: "I think at the end of the day, he's committed to this Dolphins football team."

If the Dolphins are going to bounce back and get back to the playoffs in 2025, Hill figures to be a significant factor once he heals up.
