Former NFL QB Robert Griffin III to Coach in Overtime's 7x7 Football League
Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III will be adding to his resume, this time as a coach in Overtime's 7×7 football league.
“I know as a college coach, it’s not the same as coaching seven-year-olds,” Griffin told Sportico's Eric Jackson. “But I think if you can have the patience to coach [them] then you can coach a five-star recruit … It’s a unique opportunity to have a big impact as a coach but I’m not actively seeking that out. These [coaching] opportunities found me and maybe that’s a sign from God.”
Griffin has not played since the 2020 campaign when he was a member of the Ravens. The 35-year-old has since worked for ESPN.

RBs Who Could Win 1st Rushing Title in 2026 🏆

Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
He entered the league when Washington selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft after he won the Heisman Trophy at Baylor. He wasted little time making his mark, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year and earning a Pro Bowl nod in his first season.
He appeared well on his way to a head-turning career as a dual-threat quarterback who could beat defenses over the top with his arm and slice through them with his legs.
However, injuries largely derailed those prospects. He suffered ligament damage in his right knee and a dislocated ankle early in his career and was also benched for Kirk Cousins. The Cleveland Browns signed him entering the 2016 campaign, but he threw two touchdowns and three interceptions in five games.
Griffin went unsigned in 2017 and played sparingly for the Ravens from 2018-20, although he did lead them to a 28-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final game of the 2019 regular season.
