Dolphins to Play 2025 Game in Spain amid Latest NFL International Slate Announcements

The Miami Dolphins are set to host a game in Spain as part of the NFL’s international slate during the 2025 season.

The Los Angeles Chargers will play in Brazil and the Indianapolis Colts have a matchup scheduled in Germany next season. The Pittsburgh Steelers are also set to travel to Ireland. 

The Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets will all play in three separate London games. 

The opponents that each team will face in their respective international locations is yet to be determined. 

Miami’s upcoming game in Madrid will occur in Bernabéu Stadium, which is typically the home venue for Spanish soccer club Real Madrid. It represents the first NFL contest that will be played in Spain.

Dolphins vice chairman, president and CEO Tom Garfinkel brought up the team’s existing support in Spain when issuing a statement following the announcement. 

“We are thrilled to play the NFL's inaugural game in Spain, a country of rich history, tradition and passion and home to a vibrant Dolphins fanbase," Garfinkel said, via NFL.com. "There is a hunger for football in this market, and we are proud to join with the NFL in growing the game internationally while engaging with old and new fans alike.”

The Dolphins have played seven international games in Germany, London and Toronto. They own a record of 2-5 outside the United States. 

Miami is coming off a disappointing 8-9 finish in 2024, marking the team’s first losing record since the 2019 season. The Dolphins started 1-1, but struggled after quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed four games due to a concussion suffered in Week 2.

Miami sat at 2-6 through nine weeks and couldn’t clinch a playoff spot despite winning six of its final nine contests. 

As the Dolphins look to bounce back in 2025, they’ll also be preparing to travel to Spain for their eighth international game.
