Video: Shedeur Sanders Gets Advice from Patrick Surtain II amid NFL Draft Rumors

As the son of a retired NFL star, Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II offered some guidance to Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

Surtain, whose dad played 11 year in the NFL, told TMZ Sports that Sanders should "cancel out the noise" and "stay true to yourself."

"You know who you is. You know who you are as a person," he said. "All that matters is what you do on the field."

Being the son of Deion Sanders can be a heavy burden. The Hall of Fame cornerback is one of the greatest ever at his position, and he remains a singular personality within the sport.

Shedeur has done a great job of carving out his own career on the gridiron. He was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school and then excelled at the FCS and FBS levels with Jackson State and Colorado respectively.

In his final season with the Buffs, the 6'2" signal-caller had the fourth-most passing yards (4,134) and second-most touchdown passes (37). He finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting and was the recipient of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which goes to the top upperclassman QB.

On the strength of his prolific college career, Sanders is widely considered one of the two best quarterbacks in the 2025 draft class. He's second at the position behind Miami's Cam Ward and the No. 16 overall player in Bleacher Report's big board.

Shedeur could even manage to get one over on his dad. Deion was the No. 5 pick to the Atlanta Falcons in the 1989 NFL draft. His son may not last that long on April 24.
