Anthony Rizzo Eyes MLB FA Contract After Yankees Exit: I Still 'Have A lot to Give'
First baseman Anthony Rizzo is still searching for a landing spot in free agency entering the 2025 season, but he isn't focused on retiring.
"I think I have a lot to give to the game still," Rizzo said on Friday, according to Ken Rosenthal and Brendan Kuty of The Athletic.
"I want to play," he added. "I want to win. And I love talking the game with pitchers, with hitters. There’s so much to dive into. Everything that goes into it, on the field, off the field, I’ll still be talking about it with guys."

MLB Prospects Rising Up the Ranks 📈
The 35-year-old spent last season with the New York Yankees, but he became a free agent after the team declined his $17 million club option for its 2025 campaign.
Rizzo was acquired by the Yankees in a July 2021 trade with the Chicago Cubs. His first full year with New York during the 2022 season was impressive, recording 32 home runs and 75 RBIs to go along with a .817 OPS.
Injuries have slowed down Rizzo ever since, failing to reach 100 games played in 2023 and 2024. He suited up in just 92 contests during the 2024 season due to an arm fracture.
Rizzo didn't look comfortable at the plate when healthy, racking up a mere eight homers and 35 RBIs while posting a .228/.301/.335 slash line.
A reunion with the Yankees is unlikely, as they signed veteran first baseman Paul Goldschmidt to a one-year contract worth $12.5 million on Dec. 21.
While Rizzo is still a free agent with spring training officially underway, he's focused on staying in the majors for the 2025 season.
