Report: Eagles' Cam Jurgens Underwent Surgery for Back Injury After Super Bowl 59 Win
Philadelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens underwent back surgery on Tuesday to "alleviate nerve pain," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Per that report, "Doctors believe a full recovery is expected by July, in time for training camp. Jurgens is headed into the final season of his rookie contract."
Jurgens, 25, was a second-round pick of the Eagles in 2022 and spent his first first two seasons operating as a guard. But when Jason Kelce retired following the 2023 campaign, the Eagles moved Jurgens back to center, giving him the unenviable task of replacing a team legend.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He was up to the task. Jurgens was named a Pro Bowler in the 2025 season and was a keystone on the best offensive line in football, once that helped the Birds easily dismantle the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
The aforementioned Kelce had been a crucial part of Philly's offense during his career, calling out protections at the line. Quarterback Jalen Hurts took over that duty in 2024 and handled it well, however, including a number of excellent adjustments against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Jurgens' ability to aptly replace Kelce will have him in line for a significant extension this offseason, one that should make him among the highest-paid centers in the sport. It will be a busy offseason for executive vice president and general manager Howie Roseman, who also has to make decisions on a number of key free agents, including All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun, guard Mekhi Becton, defensive tackle Milton Williams and Super Bowl hero and edge-rusher Josh Sweat.
The Eagles won't have the cap space to keep them all. Luckily for them, they have a talented enough overall roster to withstand a few losses, and a general manager who has proven to be elite at refreshing talent via the draft or bargains in free agency.
Either way, one thing feels fairly certain—Jurgens will be in Philly for a good, long while.
