Adam WellsFeb 19, 2025

The NFL is continuing to fill out its rotation of international games for the 2025 season, with the Los Angeles Chargers set to host a game in Brazil in Week 1.

Per an official announcement from the NFL on Wednesday, the Chargers will be the designated home team at Corinthians Arena in Sรฃo Paulo on Friday night during the first week of the regular season.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodellย saidย in November that the league was hoping to play at least eight international games in 2025.

Wednesday's announcement about the Chargers in Brazil brings the number of confirmed designated home teams for international games to seven. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and New York Jetsย will playย in London.

The Indianapolis Colts will be theย designated home teamย for a game at Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Spain will host its first-ever regular-season game, with the Miami Dolphins as theย host club.

Croke Park in Ireland willย serve as hostย for a game with the Pittsburgh Steelers as the home team.

This will mark the second consecutive season that Brazil will host a regular-season game in Week 1. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers 34-29 on a Friday night game on Sept. 6.

Assuming the NFL follows a similar schedule to last season, the 2025 game in Brazil will be played on Sept. 5. The Chargers' opponent for the game will likely be announced closer to when the full schedule is released in May.

This will be the fourth international game the Chargers have played. Their most recent appearance outside of the United States was in November 2019 when they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs at Estadio Aztecaย in Mexico City.

The Chargers are coming off a terrific 2024 under first-year head coach Jim Harbaugh. They finished 11-6 and made the playoffs, losing to the Houston Texans in the AFC Wild Card game.
