Daniel Jeremiah 2025 NFL Mock Draft: Cam Ward to Browns, Shedeur Sanders to Raiders

Mike ChiariFeb 18, 2025

University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward ascended to No. 2 overall in the second mock draft released by NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah on Tuesday.

Jeremiah had Ward going third overall to the New York Giants in his first mock, but he has since moved Ward up to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 overall. Staying the same from the first mock to the second was Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders landing with the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6 overall.

The top 10 projected picks in Jeremiah's 2025 NFL mock draft 2.0 are as follows:

Ward and Sanders are the only two quarterbacks who Jeremiah has coming off the board in the first round, which is consistent with the narrative that they are the only quarterbacks with clear first-round grades at this point in the pre-draft process.

After starring at FCS Incarnate Word and then Washington State, Ward transferred to the Miami for the 2024 season and made the most of his one year with the Hurricanes.

Ward completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions, plus he rushed for 204 yards and four touchdowns.

That production netted Ward several national honors, including ACC Player of the Year and the Davey O'Brien Award, which is given annually to the best quarterback in FBS college football.

Ward also finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting after being one of the top contenders for much of the season.

Sanders also began his collegiate career at the FCS level with Jackson State, but he made the move to Colorado in 2023 when the program hired his father, Deion Sanders, as head coach.

After completing 69.3 percent of his passing attempts for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions in 2023, Sanders took a big step forward last season, completing 74.0 percent of his passes for 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 picks.

The Buffaloes improved from 4-8 in 2023 to 9-4 last season, and Sanders was named Big 12 Offensive Player, while also finishing eighth in the Heisman voting.

Several teams picking inside the top seven have a clear and obvious need at quarterback, so it is difficult to envision Ward and Sanders falling past that point.

Jeremiah had the Browns taking Colorado two-way star and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter at No. 2 overall in his first mock, but with quarterback Deshaun Watson potentially in line to miss the entire 2025 season due to a torn Achilles, Jeremiah reversed course and mocked Ward to Cleveland.

Ward went third overall to the New York Giants in Jeremiah's first mock, but rather than having the G-Men take Sanders this time around with Ward off the board, Jeremiah gave the Giants arguably the best overall player in the draft in Hunter.

Should the Giants pass on a quarterback in the first round of the draft, they will likely have to address their need at quarterback via free agency or trade.

As of now, Sam Darnold, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are among the top quarterbacks set to hit the open market this offseason.
