NFL Free Agency Rumors: Khalil Mack 'to Have a Robust Market' as Chargers Eye Contract
The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly interested in a reunion with outside linebacker Khalil Mack in free agency, but it may not be easy.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed on SportsCenter that Mack is "going to have a robust market" even though "the Chargers would like to bring him back."
The 33-year-old initially considered retirement at the end of the 2024 season, but he's expected to return in 2025 and will test unrestricted free agency in March.

Mack appeared in 16 games with Los Angeles last season, recording six sacks and 15 quarterback hits to go along with two forced fumbles. His 90.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus ranked No. 5 among all edge rushers in 2024, leading the NFL with six batted passes.
While the former Defensive Player of the Year's 2024 sack total was relatively low compared to the rest of his career, it's worth noting that he's only one season removed from compiling 17 sacks during his 2023 campaign.
Fowler previously listed the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers as possible landing spots for Mack as a free agent. The Panthers and Falcons ranked No. 29 and No. 31 among all teams in sacks last season, respectively.
The Chargers have the financial flexibility to retain Mack with $63.4 million in cap space, the fifth-most in the NFL (via Over the Cap).
Los Angeles seems to be interested in bringing back the veteran, but it'll reportedly have some competition for his services.
