Russell Wilson Rumors: Giants 'a Sleeper'; QB 'Still Loves Steelers amid Raiders Buzz
Russell Wilson's future remains a question mark heading into the offseason, but the veteran quarterback reportedly could end up on the New York Giants.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler discussed the Wilson situation during an appearance on Sunday's episode of SportsCenter and suggested the signal-caller would love to re-sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers but is at least connected to the Las Vegas Raiders and Giants at this point.
"I'm told he still loves Pittsburgh, had a great experience there, that would be his priority if he's ranking teams to potentially sign with," Fowler said. "Now, the wild card there will be Justin Fields and see if the Steelers prefer to bring back the younger option.

"But Wilson himself should have options too. Talking to some Ex-Seattle aides, they said that Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson have pieced it up, so maybe Las Vegas could shake out for him. I'm also told the Giants are considered a sleeper option for Russell Wilson."
To say the Giants need answers at quarterback would be an understatement.
They went 3-14 in 2024 while cycling through less-than-stellar options in Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito and Tim Boyle. Jones is no longer on the team, and the biggest question at this point is whether New York will select a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft.
Even if it does, Wilson could still be a bridge option who helps the rookie adapt to the NFL and starts until the younger player is ready to take over for the long-term future.
The 10-time Pro Bowler may need to start exploring such options, as Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported Monday that "this week some pro-Wilson narratives surfaced, and my sense is that probably wouldn't be very well received by the Steelers as they mull their future at the position."
Breer also pointed out "some friction surfaced as the season circled the drain" as Wilson struggled to throw the ball over the middle or elevate the team's overall ceiling.
Wilson may want to return to Pittsburgh, but the team also needs to want him back if it is going to happen. It seems like he will at least have options, though, as he could join his former coach in Carroll in Las Vegas or perhaps help bridge the Giants to their next era with a different quarterback.
