NFL Rumors: Some Texans Players 'Lost Faith' With OC Bobby Slowik Before Firing
As the Houston Texans' offense struggled throughout the 2024 season, offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik was unable to find any answers along the way and ultimately lost his job as a result.
Per ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime, some Texans players "lost faith" in Slowik over the course of the season.
"I don't think we had a true identity of what the f--k we wanted to do," one player told Bien-Aime.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Slowik was fired by the Texans on Jan. 24, six days after their season ended with a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round. C.J. Stroud was sacked eight times in that game and 52 times during the regular season.
Expectations were incredibly high in Houston coming into this season after a terrific 2023. Stroud looked like he was going to join the elite group of quarterbacks following a breakout rookie campaign.
Instead, the offense regressed across the board in 2024. They finished 26th in DVOA, allowed the third-highest pressure rate for the season, and ranked in the bottom eight in EPA per play and success rate in the second half of the year.
Some of the issues can be attributed to key players not living up to expectations or injuries. Their top three receivers (Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell) all missed at least three games due to injuries. Dell and Diggs suffered season-ending injuries, leaving John Metchie and Robert Woods as the No. 2 and 3 wideouts behind Collins in the playoffs.
When a team has as many issues as the Texans did in 2024, it's on the offensive coordinator to figure out solutions that would make things easier for the players. Slowik never seemed to do that and moving the ball often seemed like a struggle for the unit.
One year after generating interest from several teams in the head-coaching hiring cycle, Slowik has seen his stock fall. He didn't have to wait long for another job, with the Miami Dolphins hiring him to be their new passing game coordinator.
