NFL Exec: Travis Hunter 'Has Some Rough Edges in Technique' as WR Ahead of 2025 Draft
Travis Hunter may have some technique issues to fix if he intends to play snaps at wide receiver in the NFL.
An NFC executive told Jeff Legwold of ESPN that Hunter has some "rough edges" in his technique when playing receiver and that he will have to clean up those issues to win against NFL corners.
"You just really don't want to stifle his development. He has some rough edges in technique as a receiver. He wins with talent now, and NFL corners will force him to be a better route-runner," the executive said.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Hunter was a two-way player at Colorado and is officially attending the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine as a cornerback. However, Colorado coach Deion Sanders has consistently advocated for Hunter's ability to play on both sides of the ball in the NFL.
Hunter spent the last two seasons as Colorado after starting his career at FCS Jackson State. In 2024, Hunter had 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 13 touchdowns while also adding 36 total tackles, 11 pass deflections and four interceptions on defense. He earned his second straight All-American designation and won the 2024 Heisman Trophy for his efforts.
Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department rates Hunter as the No. 1 overall prospect in the draft class. His decision to test at the combine as a cornerback leaves the door open to play both positions at the NFL, as he could filter in on the offense while primarily playing defensive back.
If the NFL team that drafts him plans to embrace this, it looks like Hunter will need to shore up some of those technique issues to excel in that role.
