Amari Cooper, Raiders Reportedly Agree to Contract Amid Jakobi Meyers Trade Rumors
Amari Cooper is reportedly returning to the organization where it all began.
The veteran wide receiver has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract worth $3.5 million in base value and up to $6 million total, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network explained:
NFL insider Jordan Schultz first reported the signing.
The signing is notable for the team, given Las Vegas wideout Jakobi Meyers requested a trade on Monday, per ESPN's Ryan McFadden.
Cooper, 31, did not have a banner 2024 season. He spent his first six games with the Cleveland Browns, catching just 24 passes for 250 yards and two scores before being traded to the Buffalo Bills alongside a 2025 sixth-round draft pick for a 2025 third-rounder and a 2026 seventh-rounder.
In eight games with Buffalo he caught just 20 passes for 297 yards and two touchdowns, failing to emerge as the No. 1 receiver the Bills thought they were acquiring.
That didn't stop the Bills from reaching the AFC Championship Game, but it did look like a poor use of draft capital in hindsight.
It also always made it likely that Cooper would head to free agency and find a new home for the 2025 season. The hope for Las Vegas is that he'll regain the form that saw him make five Pro Bowls in his career and register seven seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards.
This will mark Cooper's second stint with the Raiders. Drafted fourth overall by the then-Oakland Raiders, Cooper spent the first three-plus seasons of his career with the franchise. He recorded 225 catches for 3,183 yards and 19 touchdowns in 52 games before being traded to the Dallas Cowboys in 2018.
