Field Yates: Shedeur Sanders Is 'Best Pure Pocket Passer' in 2025 NFL Draft Class

Shedeur Sanders posted some of the best passing numbers in college football a season ago, and one draft analyst attributes that to his outstanding pocket passing ability.

ESPN's Field Yates named Sanders the "best pure pocket passer" in this year's draft class on Tuesday.

"I think some people that aren't familiar with Shedeur Sanders' profile as a prospect will think, 'He's Deion Sanders' son, he must be this highly-athletic quarterback,'" Yates said on NFL Live (3:00 mark in video). "No, he's not really that. This is a guy who's at his best operating from the pocket. He's the best pure pocket passer in this year's draft class among the quarterbacks. He has a great combination of both accuracy and ball placement. There's touch, there's anticipating, he understands how to make area throws as well."

As Sanders prepares for the draft, he revealed recently that he already has visits scheduled with the Cleveland Browns, who have the No. 2 pick, and the New York Giants, who have the No. 3 pick.

While Sanders' first two visits will be with Cleveland and New York, he'll likely meet with plenty of teams throughout the draft process.

Sanders, who began his career at Jackson State before following his father to Colorado, had an outstanding final collegiate season. He threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, leading the Buffs to a 9-3 record in 2024.

He will almost certainly be one of the first players off the board, and nailing his interviews with the Browns and Giants could mean he gets drafted within the first three picks.

Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department projects Sanders to land on the Giants with the third pick, only behind Miami star quarterback Cam Ward and Penn State edge Abdul Carter.
