A Call For Change: The Cleveland Baseball Mascot

I know a Native American guy that says the mascot for the Cleveland baseball team is racist. He doesn't think that it is racist, he says that it is racist.

I feel the same way and I am tired of it. I want the baseball team in Cleveland to change its name.

I am not worried about the football team in Washington, the baseball team in Atlanta, the hockey team in Chicago or the college at Florida State so please don't say that the team in Cleveland is okay because there are other racist mascots out there. Five wrongs do not make a right so we can make that four wrongs.

I'm not worried about the other team logos because they aren't my teams. Also, it is more sensible to try to go for one change then for five at once.

Here are the choices and your vote truly counts this time.

Cleveland Blues: This was a team name from 1901 to 1904. I like this one because that would make the town have the Blues and the Browns.

Cleveland Spiders: this was the name of the baseball team in Cleveland at the turn of the 19th to 20th century. It will be my pick because I am old school and that is pretty old school.

Cleveland Rams: Before the football Rams went to St. Louis they were in LA. Before they moved to LA they were in Cleveland so this mascot again has ties to Cleveland.

Cleveland Barons: this was name of the long defunct NHL team that was once in Cleveland. Shockingly, they never won a championship.

This is important to me. I have a few Cleveland baseball team shirts and I never wear them out. I do wear them as undershirts. I could buy the old Cleveland baseball cap with the C on it but it still represents the offensive mascot.

The Internet has power for the good and for the bad. Let's start a ground swell for a positive change and get one of the racist team names changed.
