WWE Battleground 2015: Biggest X-Factors to Watch at PPV

Aaron BowerJun 29, 2015

As the final pay-per-view before SummerSlam, expect WWE Battleground to bring plenty of fire and excitement to our TV screens.

With every major show the company puts on, there is naturally an expectation that there will be some huge X-factors that will keep fans intrigued and entertained throughout.

With some breakout performances potentially on the card as well as some huge storylines, Battleground offers fans a number of opportunities for big, bold moments.

Kevin Owens Potentially Dethroning John Cena

The rise of Kevin Owens over the last two months has been one of the most enthralling and entertaining storylines the WWE has thrown up in recent years.

Owens' sharp surge in momentum has seen him go from NXT Champion to one of the most over members of the WWE roster in just a few weeks. As if his shocking debut on Raw wasn't enough, he followed that up a few weeks later with a win against John Cena in his first-ever match on the main roster.

And although he lost out to Cena at Money in the Bank, it set things up nicely for a third, defining contest between the two at Battleground.

With Owens clearly having the upper hand in the feud at the moment, it looks like there is a realistic possibility of Owens becoming the new United States Champion in the next few weeks.

Should he get the job done and beat Cena again (clean or not), it would signify that the company are serious about Owens becoming the next big thing.

Seth Rollins and Triple H's Relationship Potentially Imploding

Even though Kane and J&J Security came out and saved Seth Rollins at the hands of Brock Lesnar last week on Raw, you still get the feeling all is not well between Rollins and the head of The Authority, Triple H.

With Triple H making the call to bring back Lesnar as Rollins' next challenger, it has left fans wondering if Rollins and Triple H are perhaps heading for an implosion somewhere down the line.

It would be hard to envisage Lesnar losing clean to Rollins, and this being The Authority, there is almost certainly going to be a swerve in their match at Battleground.

Whether that enables Rollins to win or perhaps an even greater twist by Rollins turning babyface after being beaten down by The Authority remains to be seen.

But what it does mean is that in the coming weeks as we head toward Battleground, Rollins' relationship with Triple H is well worth keeping an eye on.
