WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for June 29

Ryan DilbertJun 29, 2015

The June 29 edition of WWE Raw will focus on the aftereffects of attacks, both physical and psychological.

As WWE prepares for Battleground 2015, Roman Reigns will be trying to shake off the disturbing exploits of Bray Wyatt. John Cena, meanwhile, will be recovering from an attack that left him unable to walk on his own a few weeks ago.

The Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., hosts the action.

Fans in Chocolate City will also see Ryback fend off a pair of challengers and Rusev show off his romantic side. Injuries will keep Monday's Raw from featuring some key contributors to the tag team division. The man set on tearing Seth Rollins apart doesn't appear to be entering the arena either.

Backstage reports and James Wortman's five-point preview on WWE.com help provide a look ahead at what to expect on the show. In addition, WWE let fans know early on which match will close Monday's Raw.

Main Event Set

A reunited Authority faces off against two-thirds of what was once The Shield. As announced on WWE.com, "Rollins and Kane will put their combined skills to the test against Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns in the main event of Raw."

It's a familiar matchup that has occurred on both Raw and SmackDown recently.

Ambrose's involvement in this ongoing battle with The Authority points to him not being yanked from the main event scene just yet despite not having a match set for Battleground. This could well provide an indication of what lies ahead for him on that pay-per-view.

Rollins will be looking to build on his throttling of Brock Lesnar last week. With his corporate goons back on his side, it looks as if the WWE champ will be relying heavily on outside interference once more.

News, Potential Spoilers

An injury that WWE has yet to provide details on looks to be keeping The Wyatt Family from continuing its resurgence. Erick Rowan's arm injury is reportedly serious enough to keep him out not only for Monday's Raw, but likely most of the year.

PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson reports, "The word making the rounds is Erick Rowan will be out six months with a biceps tear. WWE has not officially updated his status."

That leaves the tag team division low on depth and Luke Harper without a partner. Cesaro can certainly relate. His tag team partner just underwent surgery, as Tyson Kidd told the world via Twitter:

The Swiss Superman may have found a new ally, though. On Sunday at a house show in Reading, Pennsylvania, Cesaro teamed up with Neville, as noted on Pro Wrestling Torch. The duo finished off The New Day with a Cesaro Swing-Red Arrow combo.

This partnership is potentially the direction WWE will go in with both men. It's a viable solution to giving the tag division a needed boost and offering Cesaro something else to do while Kidd heals.

And you can add The Beast Incarnate to the list of Superstars not heading to the nation's capital.

As James Caldwell notes on Pro Wrestling Torch, Brock Lesnar is not advertised to appear on Monday's Raw. However, Kevin Owens is scheduled for the show along with Big Show, Sheamus, John Cena and Dolph Ziggler.

Construction of Battleground Continues

A key component to Cena vs. Owens III will be the United States champ's health. After their match at Money in the Bank, Owens left Cena hobbled with a powerbomb to the ring apron.

WWE looks to be selling Cena's injury, having it be a factor moving forward. Wortman hints at that in the preview on WWE.com. He writes, "Is Cena still feeling the lingering effects of that assault, despite his willingness to defend his star-spangled prize against Owens?"

This could possibly lead to Owens going on the attack again, weakening an already banged-up Cena.

Monday's Raw will be hyping another midcard title bout as both The Miz and Big Show vie for Ryback's Intercontinental Championship. The story as of late has been highly focused on the giant's part of the tale, as he and Ryback just traded beatdowns.

Count on The Miz getting some spotlight at the Verizon Center.

The preview for Monday's Raw seems to hint at The Miz getting more involved. Wortman asks, "Are Ryback, Big Show and the WWE Universe underestimating The Miz as a threat to The Big Guy's Intercontinental Championship reign?"

And while The Miz, Ryback and Big Show are busy creating bad blood, a romance looks to be unfolding elsewhere on the roster.

Summer Rae has appeared in the last few segments that have featured Rusev. With the bruiser still pining for Lana after The Ravishing Russian decided to start locking lips with Ziggler, she's offered a helping hand and a wink or two.

Wortman notes in his five-point preview, "Summer Rae has seemingly softened the fall for the hobbled Bulgarian Brute."

Chances are that story gets more play Monday night. WWE has been committed to this angle up to this point.

This soap opera-like narrative has led to Ziggler being distracted during his matches.

Reigns has had trouble focusing as well, but that's thanks to a monster toying with him rather than the lure of a beautiful woman.

Last week, Bray Wyatt tried to worm inside Reigns' head with a creepy tea party and some disturbing messages scribbled onto his locker. How The Big Dog deals with that is sure to be a big part of Monday's Raw and the Battleground build overall.

About the feud, Wortman writes, "What is Wyatt's endgame, and what can Reigns do to counter these macabre machinations as he prepares for his main event showdown on Raw?"

That sounds like Reigns and Wyatt's interactions will remain a high-profile part of the show. With Reigns set to do battle in the main event, it's a safe bet that Wyatt slides into that bout somehow. And with Lesnar not booked for the night, The Eater of Worlds will have a bigger share of center stage.
