On To Week Two In College Football
Here we are at week number two of the College Football season. Already there is talk of senior coaches retiring and making way for the new generation. This year it is Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno is getting a pass for winning still. A few years ago it was Bobby Bowden getting a pass and Joe Paterno who needed to retire. Interesting how the tides can change in college football.
In week two we have two of the most historic rivalries in college football. Southern California comes to Ohio to play Ohio State. Southern California seems to have the nod with pundits this year. In the series Southern California has won 11 times. Ohio State has won 8 times. There was one tie in 1949 in this rivalry that started in 1937. Only three points separate the two teams in all that time. Southern California has scored 335 points and Ohio State has scored 332. Ohio State has 5 shut outs in the series while Southern California has 2. Southern California has won the last 5 games. This one will be a good game to watch as a football fan.
Michigan and Notre Dame square off this weekend also. Michigan leads this series with 20 wins including the first 8 in a row. Notre Dame has 15 wins with 12 coming since 1978. There is one tie in the series. This years game is particularly interesting due to the under performance of both teams last season. Look for this to be a grudge match between to exceptionally talented teams.
Other Games To Watch
Georgia Tech Vs. Clemson
This game promises to be the best of the ACC this week. Expect a close game that could go either way. 10 of the last 14 games in this series have been decided by less than 6 points.
UCLA Vs. Tennessee
Tennessee attempts revenge for last seasons shocker at UCLA's hands. Tennessee has a new coaching staff and a new attitude. UCLA comes in hoping to prove last years win against Tennessee was no fluke.
