Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Sheamus
Despite how WWE views wrestlers who have just won the Money in the Bank briefcase, the annual winner should be booked strongly due to the fact that he is next in line to become the world champion.
Sheamus needs a big win at Battleground to prove his victory at Money in the Bank wasn’t a fluke, and beating Orton will help him achieve that goal. While the feud and matches are stale, the two men can put on a solid midcard match at the secondary PPV.
There are still some fans who hope Dean Ambrose is injected into the match between Sheamus and Orton, but the match itself should be entertaining regardless. The only certainty is that Sheamus must walk away victorious.
A subtle tease at an alliance with The Authority would be a good addition to Battleground.
Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt
Five weeks of build will be plenty for Wyatt and Reigns to build legitimate excitement heading into the July PPV, and the match will put immense pressure on both combatants.
Wyatt and Reigns are expected to be the top heel and face, respectively, heading into the future, and this clash could be the start of a legendary feud that lasts for several years. This is a huge opportunity for two cornerstones of the company to steal the show.
The WWE Universe will be focused on Brock Lesnar's chase for the world title and John Cena's continuing battle with Kevin Owens, but it could easily be the in-ring war between Wyatt and Reigns that fans will look back on most fondly.
Wyatt vs. Reigns could easily be the feud of the summer.
Kevin Owens
After earning the victory against Cena at Elimination Chamber and then taking a clean loss to the 15-time champion at Money in the Bank, the pressure is on for NXT champion Owens at Battleground.
Owens and Cena have put on Match of the Year candidates each time they've stepped in the ring, and that’s what the fans have come to expect from these two men. To live up to the hype, Owens must win the match and walk out of the PPV with the United States Championship.
Since there is a good chance Owens will drop the NXT title to Finn Balor at the July 4 show in Tokyo, the ideal booking would be to have Owens win the U.S. title and carry his momentum into a full-time WWE gig without all the additional NXT work.
The WWE Universe is expecting a five-star match, and Owens will be under immense pressure to deliver. Thank goodness he has the mental and physical ability to pull off the feat again.
