Samoa Joe Should Follow Kevin Owens to WWE's Main Roster
Samoa Joe is quite possibly WWE's biggest free-agent acquisition of the modern era. The Samoan Submission Specialist made an impact from the first night he debuted on NXT, and his evolving war with Kevin Owens will ultimately lead him to the company's main roster.
It was perhaps only a matter of time until someone showed up to counter Owens. The NXT champion has been the alpha male since the moment he turned heel on Sami Zayn.
He is the schoolyard bully, and no one has been capable of standing up to him.

But one guy has been able to make a difference, and that guy is Joe. Joe has taken the fight straight to Owens' door, meeting him on his level and giving him everything he can handle. He has been the perfect foil to Owens, matching his intensity and ferocity in the ring.
Much like Owens, Joe is a pit bull who puts his head down and fights harder than anyone else in the locker room. What he does is not flashy or pretty, but it's effective, and he brawls his way through one hard-fought battle after another.
The only way to best Owens and keep up with him is to bring what he brings, and few can do that besides Samoa Joe.
But these days, Owens is dividing his time between his home program of NXT and the main rosters of both Raw and SmackDown. His program with John Cena has put him on the map, giving him exposure he was not getting on the WWE Network.
Now, Owens is a legitimate main event star, and his career has never been hotter.
But Joe is hot on his heels. Joe is WWE's next great journeyman star, much like Daniel Bryan, and to get over on the worldwide stage, he needs to appear on the main programs. Many fans have likely been expecting it to happen, as Owens' presence on Raw and SmackDown has become more prominent in the past few weeks.
While Cena is the primary focus of Owens' efforts thus far, Joe will catch up to him eventually. Owens gets major heat every time he's on TV, and though he is popular with some fans, he is a hated heel.
Seeing Joe make the save for Cena or another Superstar would be huge for him. The commentary team would be saying his name and talking about his career and the threat he poses to Owens. WWE fans who might be unfamiliar with Joe's work would finally see him in action, and his star would rise.
NXT has infiltrated WWE's main programming to the point that it's nearly impossible for fans to tune in without mention of the Florida-based brand. It would be a natural progression for Joe, one that is necessary for him to reach the next level.
Of all the stars in NXT, Joe is perhaps best suited for fame right now. He was a primary talent in TNA and Ring of Honor and is accustomed to the weekly grind of episodic television. He is familiar with that aspect of the business and would have no problem assimilating with WWE's roster.
Samoa Joe is not a young star anymore, and if he is going to make a splash on the main roster, it needs to be soon. He has a lot to offer, including an athletic move set laced with intensity and power. He is a unique star with a career of experience behind him, and he is ready to impress fans who have yet to see him at his best.
But it all starts with Owens. The feud between the two men has been volatile and will likely spill over outside NXT at some point. It's only a matter of time until the fight comes to the masses, and that means Samoa Joe will make it to WWE's main programming sooner rather than later.
Owens, Zayn and Neville may have been the first wave from the modern NXT, but Joe will represent the second, and when he does appear on Monday Night Raw, the result will be explosive. Owens' is red-hot, but Joe could be even hotter, and that time is coming
