WWE Battleground 2015: Undercard Matches Fans Deserve to See

Donald WoodJun 22, 2015

After three pay-per-views in a row spread out only two weeks apart, the WWE Universe is in store for a five-week build to the 2015 edition of Battleground.

Only two matches have been announced thus far—Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt—but several bouts are expected to be added to the Battleground card.

Here are the undercard matches fans deserve to see at the July 19 PPV.

Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus vs. Randy Orton

The WWE Universe doesn’t want a feud between Dean Ambrose and Kane. Fans also don’t want to see another battle between Randy Orton and 2015 Money in the Bank winner Sheamus. The answer is a Triple Threat match between Ambrose, Orton and Sheamus.

In the ring, Ambrose, Orton and Sheamus would be a great bout that could highlight the skills of all three men. On the mic, Ambrose would have a chance to shine against two highly regarded former world champions.

To make the potential match even more interesting, the hope is that the Money in the Bank briefcase will be on the line. Sheamus could retain his title shot and prove to all the doubters he deserves to be in the world title discussion.

Each combatant has a case that he should be in the world title scene, and having them do battle at Battleground could help separate one of these Superstars as the clear-cut top contender after Lesnar.

The Bella Twins vs. Paige and Charlotte

For weeks, Paige has been getting opportunities to take down The Bella Twins but has come up short due to the numbers advantage. It’s about time the former women’s champion enlists a little help from her friend Charlotte.

The daughter of the legendary Ric Flair is one of the most talented athletes in NXT, and she is ready to make the jump to the main roster. With the Divas division looking to add a legitimate athlete who can steal the show, Charlotte will be a blessing.

Add the fact that the rest of the Divas are also making Paige’s life difficult, and it would be amazing to see Charlotte and Paige enlist the help of Natalya to from a women’s version of The Shield stable.

Ryback vs. The Miz. vs. Big Show

There may have been big hopes for the Intercontinental Championship with Daniel Bryan holding the belt, but Ryback has been a stellar choice to pick up the slack in the former champion’s absence.

A Triple Threat match at Battleground would be a smart undercard addition.

After watching The Miz inject himself into the storyline between Ryback and the Big Show, there is little doubt that the Triple Threat match will take place at Battleground, which should be appealing to all three Superstars.

The majority of the WWE Universe is not enamored with these men on their own, but all three together create an interesting angle. Ryback is genuinely getting over with fans, and The Miz and Big Show are fun to hate. As a result, the Triple Threat bout should be a solid midcard addition.
