Patriots Moves Clear Way For Shaun Rogers and Derek Anderson?

Believeland ClownsSep 6, 2009

The trade of 5-times pro bowler, Richard Seymour to Oakland, looks on the surface a master stroke by Master Baitor, Bill Belichick. But could it be a prelude for a trade for Shaun Rogers and or Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn?

Seymour was in the final year of a contract paying him $3.7 million this season; the Patriots received a first-round draft choice in 2011. Al Davis always overpaid for star players, but its Belichick who is in a must-win situation, after having watched the Pittsburg Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, ovetake his veteran squad. Should Belichick miss out on the playoffs for the second year running, it could mean the beginning of the end of the Bellicheck dominated NFL.

Eric Mangini, Browns coach, and the Mangenius branch to have fallen from Bellicheck tree, has a couple of pieces that Belichick might want: Shaun Rogers and Derek Anderson.

After having watched Rogers totally physically dominated his star draft pick OC Alex Mack at training camp, Mangini yanked Rogers citing undisclosed injury, and had Rogers on the practice bikes at camp. That helped Rogers gain some aerobic fitness and saving the wear and tear on the knees of the 350lb frame.

Shaun Rogers is primed for a big year this year, with added help on the defensive line. Or it could mean that Berea was in protracted talks for a trade and wanted to keep Rogers injury free.

When Tom Brady had an injury scare and the Patriots released third round pick and 3rd year pro QB, O'Connell, it would seem there was something in the air at the QB position, as they also released Andrew Walter. Talks of trade for AJ Feeley never eventuated and Feeley is still a Free Agent after being released by the Eagles.

In a packaged deal, would Mangini trade for Shaun Rogers and Derek Anderson.
