WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Seth Rollins, Chyna and More

Ryan DilbertJun 16, 2015

The latest WWE rumors offer insight into what the company has cooked up for Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, but even an inside source is unsure as to just what Chyna was doing at WWE headquarters this week.

For Rollins, the rumored plans for his next major opponent after Brock Lesnar won't be surprising to many fans; foreshadowing has pointed that way for a good while.

In Chyna's case, though, surprise is plentiful. A recent visit to WWE HQ has fans wondering what her intentions are and whether her appearance in Connecticut says anything about the state of her relationship with the company.

In other stories, rumors shed light on how officials view the Samoa Joe-Tyson Kidd situation and provide details on what we can expect from the WWE Network ahead.

SummerSlam Plans for Seth Rollins

After Monday's Raw, it's clear who Rollins is clashing with at Battleground: Brock Lesnar. Triple H announced the new No. 1 contender in a segment that ended with the champ in retreat.

Following that collision, it may be Triple H himself whom Rollins faces next. According to F4WOnline (h/t WrestleZone), WWE plans to have Rollins wrestle Triple H at SummerSlam.

That would be an intriguing offering for the marquee event, one that makes a lot of sense from a storyline standpoint. Rollins has spent the last few weeks insulting and distancing himself from The Authority.

In the process, his relationship with Triple H has corroded.

It would take just one big dust-up between the two to go from allies to enemies at this point. And Triple H offers a household name to elevate the current champ.

Backstage Word on Tyson Kidd Injury

WWE has been rather secretive about it, but Kidd suffered a major injury in a dark match against The Samoan Submission Machine. WWE.com simply reported that Kidd "sustained an injury." But word has emerged that he's seriously hurt, though Joe isn't being blamed.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Wrestling Inc), there is no heat on Joe for the injury. It is reportedly seen as a fluke incident, not a result of Joe's being unsafe.

This kind of incident can ruin a wrestler's career if he develops a reputation for being dangerous in the ring. That appears not to be the case with Joe, thankfully. It makes sense for WWE officials to view things this way, as Joe has no previous history of hurting his foes.

More importantly, Kidd is hopefully on his way to recovery soon. If it's neck- or spine-related, as unconfirmed rumblings have suggested, then Kidd is possibly dealing with a scary situation.

This serves as an uncomfortable reminder of just how real pro wrestling is.

Rumored WWE Network Plans

WWE fans will reportedly have ample programming to take in. The WWE Network is set to keep adding to its inventory.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t PWMania.com) reported that company officials are considering making the Slammy Awards a standalone event that will air exclusively on the WWE Network. Normally, the award show is worked into an edition of Raw, which usually makes for an uneven night.

In addition, the rumored plan is to produce live specials like Elimination Chamber or the upcoming show in Tokyo for the network on a quarterly basis.

All of this is perfectly logical. The Slammys are an easy show to produce, one that will be an added incentive to get the network.

As for events like Elimination Chamber being thrown on top of the pay-per-view schedule, that is clearly the path WWE is taking. In just the past year, WWE has inserted King of the Ring, several live podcasts and the return of the Elimination Chamber into the list of network exclusives.

There's no reason to stray from this strategy.

Subscribers numbers surpassed 1.3 million this March, according to WWE's press release. The more live exclusive content the WWE Network can offer, the more those numbers will climb.

Chyna at WWE Headquarters?

Chyna has remained in the WWE news cycle, usually thanks to controversy, unfortunately. Her saga continues with something far less disturbing than her assault accusations, which Sean Waltman recently confronted her about, as noted by ProWrestling.net.

A photo of Chyna's apparent visit to WWE headquarters has circulated around the Internet. Filmmaker Erik Angra shared the image, complete with a link to a Kickstarter fund for a documentary about Chyna:

Questions immediately came into fans' minds. Was she meeting with WWE officials? Does this signal some sort of repaired relationship? Was she simply invading the offices as a stunt?

One person with the company doesn't believe that Chyna was at WWE in any sort of official capacity.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson wrote, "While the photo may have been taken in WWE HQ (or it may not have), a well-placed WWE source noted that the company has had no communication with Chyna and that she was not in Stamford, Connecticut, for any scheduled meeting of any kind with the company."

This may be a case of what fans imagine is happening being more interesting than reality. Chyna probably just arrived unannounced, posed for a photo and maybe got some footage for her film project.

As damaged as her relationship with WWE is, there's little reason to believe things will get better between them anytime soon. When Vince McMahon, Triple H and Chyna all pose for a picture together, then you can start the wild-speculation process in earnest.
