WWE Money in the Bank 2015: Full Predictions for Each Champion at Event

James MoffatJun 14, 2015

WWE Money in the Bank features a whole lot of gold.

Every match on the main event card will feature at least one title holder. That’s six matches and seven champions competing.

While there’s no gold on the line, the rematch between John Cena and Kevin Owens features two of the company’s champions (albeit one with NXT gold). Plus, Kofi Kingston is pulling double duty, featured in the tag team championship bout as well as the pay-per-view’s namesake ladder match.

Which title holders will walk out of the ring on Sunday night in Columbus, Ohio, victorious? It’s time to look into the crystal ball and see what the future holds for each champion at Money in the Bank.

John Cena, Kevin Owens (Champion vs. Champion)

1 of 6

There’s been a lot written about this rematch, both the lead-up and the potential outcome. I put my own two cents in regarding it last week, saying it was ill-timed. Ryan Dilbert booked a Cena win via DQ. Aaron Bower ran through every rumor and scenario on the internet.

With all the noise and rumors and what-ifs surrounding its outcome, this rematch prediction is quite simple. It makes too much sense not to follow the narrative WWE Creative established after their first match. Owens wants to be the man his son can look up to, butas Cena points outhe doesn’t know how to be a man yet.

That time will come, likely at SummerSlam. WWE won’t waste an opportunity to pit these guys against each other at the company’s second-largest event of the year.

The fates of these two men are more intertwined than Frodo and his ring. And like The Lord of the Rings movies, the John Cena-Kevin Owens rematch is destined to have a third act.

Prediction: John Cena wins via Kevin Owens disqualification.

Kofi Kingston (Money in the Bank Ladder Match)

2 of 6

In current kayfabe, it seems odd to place tag team champion Kofi Kingston in this multi-person match for a heavyweight title shot. While The New Day is trying hard to sell the “When one of us wins, we all win” storyline, it seems forced.

But Kingston and gimmick matches are synonymous. He knows how to truly put on a show in these instances. Whether it’s using a broken ladder as a pair of stilts or jumping around the barricades to avoid a Royal Rumble elimination, you know you’re in for something special when he’s involved.

And that’s what Kingston is doing here. He’s as much of a prop in this match as the ladders other WWE Superstars will use.

The Money in the Bank ladder match will give Kingston a chance to show off his incredible athletic ability, but anyone thinking that he actually is walking out of this pay-per-view with the briefcase is sorely mistaken.

The prediction, therefore, isn’t whether he wins this match (he won’t). Rather, it’s what he has in store for fans on Sunday night.

Prediction: Kofi Kingston jumps ladder to ladder across the ring to reach for the briefcase, only to land on the ropes.

Ryback (Intercontinental Championship Match)

3 of 6

When I wrote that Ryback is a placeholder champion, I noted that The Big Guy would likely hold the Intercontinental Championship through the summer months.

I also noted that Big Show was a good first opponent for him, seeing how the two have been on the periphery of the company’s bigger storylines in recent months.

The question isn’t so much if Ryback wins; it’s where WWE decides to go with this mini-feud from here. It seems likely that these two will battle through SummerSlam. There isn’t anyone on the roster who could realistically compete for this title and be a better option than either Ryback or Big Show.

The wild card in all this is The Miz, who’s stoked the flames for each of the combatants over recent weeks. His involvement in Sunday night’s match is imminent. It seems WWE is setting up a Triple Threat match for the Battleground pay-per-view next month between these three.

Prediction: Big Show wins via disqualification (interference from The Miz)

Nikki Bella (Divas Championship Match)

4 of 6

There’s been a lot of talk about change in the Divas division, both from the Divas involved in Sunday’s title match and the online wrestling community.

Let’s make one thing clear: Nikki Bella is going to retain the Divas Championship at Money in the Bank, and she’ll hold that title through SummerSlam.

Two reasons: First, Nikki is about three months away from AJ Lee’s record for longest-reigning Divas champion. Second, the fourth season of Total Divas on E! premieres July 7.

If you don’t think either one of those items matter, you’re wrong. WWE will want to use Nikki and her sister Brie as much as possible in marketing the television show, and there’s not a better way to showcase them than to have a championship around one of their waists.

As for the tenure record: While it’s gotten little attention from WWE in general, it’s sure to come up as Nikki gets closer. The chase for AJ’s record will undoubtedly play into future storylines with The Bella Twins.

Change certainly is coming, just not Sunday night. Right now, however, it’s The Bella Twins’ world. We’re all just living in it.

Prediction: Nikki Bella defeats Paige with interference from Brie.

Bonus Prediction – Total time of match: 6:23

The New Day (Tag Team Championship Match)

5 of 6

This match is the story of two tag teams: One that has become the best act in the business and another hoping to achieve that status.

The New Day have been among the company’s best heels since they took the fans’ mocking chants and animosity and redirected them into their personas. It’s been gold, both figuratively and literally.

The Prime Time Players, on the other hand, are still finding their footing as an act. They continue their comedy routines outside the ring, but in it Titus O’Neil and Darren Young have a chemistry that is among the best teams in WWE.

Prepare to see a lot of these two teams battling each other, because I think by the end of the summer, The Prime Time Players will have tag team gold around their waists. It’s wise for WWE to place PTP in a feud with The New Day, which hopefully will propel O’Neil and Young to greater heights.

As for this night, the more established team with the more established characters will prevail.

Prediction: The New Day retains the WWE Tag Team Championship over The Prime Time Players

Seth Rollins (World Heavyweight Championship Match)

6 of 6

If there were ever to be a title change, Sunday night is the night.

There’s dissension in The Authority. Seth Rollins created that, and it appears he’ll have to go it alone against Dean Ambrose in their World Heavyweight Championship match.

Rollins, whose poor booking during his title reign has been the subject of much scrutiny, could both walk out a winner and a loser. He could in theory beat Ambrose only to have someone (Roman Reigns?) cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase immediately thereafter.

It would be hard to see any of that happening, though. Rollins’ legacy as a single competitor thus far has been about the belt. WWE hasn’t given Rollins much else to work with, which is why taking the title away from him now would do more harm than good.

This should be the turning point for Rollins, helping make him more independent both in the ring and in character. That way, when someone does take the belt away, we will be more invested in his journey to recapture the title.

Prediction: Seth Rollins defeats Dean Ambrose cleanly
